    great RUN 09/23/13 08:00 AM 2 mi

First day of training plan to prep for this year's Houston Half marathon. Going for improvement over last year's time.

  2. Houston Half Marathon time!

  3. RUN
    good Post-Thanksgiving Run 9 mi 02:11 14:35 pace

This run was in Alabama with steep grades (even had the signs for 18-wheelers showing it going up the steep grade), but I got it done. Took 1.5 weeks off due to a muscle strain. Half marathon in 48... read more

  4. Need some crosstraining suggestions. Joined a small local gym (has freeweights, typical treadmills, ellipticals, etc, but it's not a big place). So, I want to start going to the gym during cro... read more

I think that the elliptical and the bike are great for crosstraining. I usually do about 2-3 miles on the elliptical (if you have a Precor 100i, I recommend it - I like to do level 7 at a pretty fast pace, and then I go for level 16 and use it as a step machine - it's very versatile), and 10-25 minutes on the bike (at levels 10 and 12). I think that weights help, too. I've run faster when I run less throughout the week. And don't forget the all-important ab-work. :-) Hope this helps.

alright Jasper Park Run 5 mi 01:07 13:26 pace

Didn't drink water prior to my run this morning. Forgot to bring any water. Felt dehydrated after a couple miles. But, I finished. (was out of town this weekend so it threw my routine off).

  6. RUN
    great Driveway Repeats (x6) 3.1 mi 00:38 12:22 pace

Stupid time change... I now get home after dark which limits me to running up and down the driveway (ran across a skunk at the end of my run). Had to go up then back 6 times to get this 5K in. Felt... read more

blah Perimter Loop (1 mile of it) 1 mi 00:11:58 11:57 pace

I usually run in my New Balance Minimus shoes, but I went a step further and got the VFF TrekSport's and used those this morning. However, I forgot to move my foot pod over to them (realized a... read more

    great Perimeter Run (x2) 2 mi 00:25 12:17 pace

Compromised on this run. Ran 1.5 miles with my wife and then ran the last .5 miles at my 'pushing it' pace of 10:13-10:30/mile pace. Only had time for 2 miles tonight before it got dark.

Failed to mention after looking at the splits both miles came out even at 12:17 the first mile and the second.

    great Perimeter Loop (x3) 3.5 mi 00:48 13:37 pace

Ran the perimeter of our land Sunday to find it was 1.15 miles. So, tonight my wife and I ran this loop 3 times... and then decided 3.39 wasn't good enough so we ran til we hit 3.5 miles. Felt... read more

Thanks! We actually live on 100+ acres. This was down our driveway, along the road, up a fence line, and back to our house.

great Murff Compound Run 1.16 mi 00:14:02 12:06 pace

Ran the perimeter of our land to find out how much mileage I can get out of it. Will have to do a couple of loops to get anything substantial.

  11. RUN

First cold run in a while and first trail run this year. Ran with my wife and mother-in-law.

  12. Houston Half Marathon in 10 weeks. I decided in order to stick with training I would come back to DailyMile for accountability. Gotta keep pushing!

great Slow Beginnings - Half Training 2 mi 00:26 13:07 pace

So the saga begins. I find rebuilding up to my mileage (5-7 miles) easier than the initial build.
