Wow...this article is really what I'm thinking about....running a June marathon and taking a week off, then having 17 weeks to train for an October marathon. Not sure it's smart and/or enough time in between. I don't have goal to PR either, just be in the events. This makes my decision a little harder actually!

I can't remember, will the June marathon be your first? Marathon training takes a lot out of you, and if it's your first, then you're not going to know how much time YOUR body needs to recover until you are there. I'd suggest registering for the June one and waiting as long as you can to register for the October one. Maybe you can find a later Fall marathon for the second?

The June marathon will be my 2nd,, so the October one my 3rd. I am running a half on St. Patricks Day. I'm so torn! Thanks for the advice!

I have often said that I can start a run with a mindful of busy-ness, but somewhere during the run, it all goes away. Kinda the opposite, I know, but it felt appropriate to share here.

I agree with you, Bill. The first mile, my mind races with the busy-ness of life. By the second or third mile, I find myself zeroing in on only myself; my form, my stride, my miles. Then, by the fourth mile, my mind is blank. When I run with the dog though, that mental progression doesn't start until I drop him back off at home. :)

Thanks for the encouragement, friends! Treadmill runs have the potential to be rather boring. Given there are days when it is only a treadmill run that I can do (and I'm usually short on time), a quick 1-2 mile run in just my socks or altogether barefoot keeps the run interesting for me. I run differently, more graceful and am more understanding of my posture, stride and muscle control.
