Haven't felt like running the last few weeks. Today was an exception. Felt good to get out there and put in a few miles. It seems to get harder and harder to recovery mentally after a big race.

It's hard to imagine running the distances you do and then ever wanting to run again, ever. At the same time, I'm guessing it's just part of your DNA at this point!

It's true. the first time I run after a race I wonder how I ever did it, but that seems to go away after a few weeks. Glad you got out there and got the miles in though :)

  4. Lance talks about his future after the tour:

After watching this, would you still want to be a professional athlete?

Oh dang, if Lance does tris, I wanna do one with him.
Why wouldn't someone want to be a pro athlete? (Is it something they say in the video, cos I couldn't watch it?)

It looks indeed like the classic post-delivery blues...I am quite optimistic seeing him doing some tris...and I will not put pressure on him :-)

He definitely looks defeated. Although it was a disappointing way to end his cycling career I think he's got nothing to be upset about when looking at the big picture; First, he's still alive, and second he's the world record holder for the most tour wins. Shit happens, and he's past his prime now, but these things are inevitable. He had an amazing run, and coming back at 38 to race and finish another tour is amazing. It's okay to let go of some of the pressure and expectations; that's what retirement is!

  6. I was talking to one of my friends at Western States. He ran the Copper Canyon Ultra with the Tarahumara - the run made famous by the book Born to Run. Supposedly, when the Tarahumara winner accepted his 1st place prize, he gave all credit to his recen... read more

I ran 17.5 miles in my SPEEDS this weekend and had zip, zilch, zero, nada problems with them. Perhaps it was the wrong model you ran 20 miles in??
