The next time I get nervous about a long run, someone please tell me to remember today's run and just go out and do it. I don't know why I was so nervous for today's run. I think I just so badly don't want to get injured again like last year, and I knew that I hadn't exactly been following my training plan...

Thanks in part to some motivation from fellow DMers I made it out the door, and my run ended up being awesome. The rain held off for the most part but the clouds and breeze hung around, making for some pretty great August running weather. I ran over the Queensboro bridge and then did a counter-clockwise loop of Central Park. Just to make sure I was well over 10 miles for the day, I ran out to 5th avenue rather than stopping inside the park.

Bring on marathon training. Now I finally feel like I'm in it.
Next Sunday, 8/21: 14 miles in Denver
Following Saturday, 8/27: Badgerland Striders Half Marathon in Milwaukee (starting with my awesome sister Jennifer P. and our equally awesome dad – Jen's gonna kill it!!!)

Nicely done, sister! My friend Ally, who is also awesome, is running with us in two weeks. It'll be her second one. Don't worry about a slow pace in Denver--no matter what your pace, it'll just make you stronger for normal elevation running. :-)
