I hope we can still do some running together! And be sure to defer as it's so difficult to get into NYC unless you do the 9+1, as you well know!

Thanks, Heather. I seriously think you're the reason I got as far into my training as I did. Yes to some running together. I'd love to do some weekday running with you if the opportunity would arise. I also could certainly run the end of a long run with you! I also hope to keep doing half marathons and such in the meantime. But really, thanks.

I think you should ditch the Gu too. If you're like me (which you probably are--we have the same genes), that's what makes you stop in the bathroom so many times. I tried those sport jelly beans today (because I was starving at mile 10 last week) on my 18-miler, but I had to stop in the bathroom (read: bushes) at mile 16. Next week for my 20-miler I'm going to try shot blocks. Those aren't as sugary, and I've tried them before but several years ago. It's definitely the sugar.

How do you see your split times? You'll have to show me...
And actually, I had a cup of coffee this morning and a bowl of oatmeal made with rice milk, no sugar, and with blueberries. That's been my successful pre-long run meal all summer actually. Sometimes I only have to wait 45 minutes before starting, but that's if I go slow. Today, waiting 2 hours after eating worked, but I was starving by mile 10. I hope the sport jelly beans work for my 18-mile run next weekend. :-)

Thanks, everyone! For both the congratulations and the tips. I think I'll try to go back to dry Cheerios, which is what I did this spring during training for the Brooklyn half. I just haven't really run in my own neighborhood since mid-July because I've been out of town, so I've been improvising. I may also try the late dinner thing anyway so I don't get too hungry.

I dig the mulit-grain cheerios. Although maybe they have too much fiber for you =D

Nicely done, sister! My friend Ally, who is also awesome, is running with us in two weeks. It'll be her second one. Don't worry about a slow pace in Denver--no matter what your pace, it'll just make you stronger for normal elevation running. :-)
