Temp 79F w/60%, nice. The idea was to warm up with 1 mile walking and then do 3 min run and 3 min walk. I am trying to stress my calf to the point of tearing but not tear - to teach it to get stressed without tearing. I found out today exactly what ... read more

Wicked norte came in last night and it was cool enough for tights this am. Somewhere around 75F. Used my new NB 1063s and they seem like BOATS but for once they are wide enough. I might just try a 1/2 size down cause they are BOATS. :) Lower legs ... read more

Cool to warm - 75F with 79% but Frack if I didn't tear my calf muscle again. I thought I could run it out like last time but I just ran into a worse tear. Frack. Luckily, the head of seguridad was out taking a spin and he was able to get me back on ... read more

legs very tired today and it was absolutely frigid. I should have worn tights. 70F with 55%. my fingers are still numb. tomorrow is rest day and this is my 2nd week of 3 days in a row so I should have expected tired legs. I don't know why I keep t... read more

Kathy, eventually runs of 4 to 5 miles will get easy, but it takes a while. By the time you can run 10+ fairly comfortably, your 5 milers will get much easier!

Nice verse, Kathy-- it made me feel the essence of a tropical run! Sounds to me like you're doing fine-- nobody feels fresh every day! P.S. Always stretch! Stretch as much as you think you need to, and then stretch that much again!

  8. tropical rain - same exact temperature as yesterday (73F with 91%) but today we have rain. I don't run in the rain. Crocodiles come out of the jungle (had one block my path and I RAN FAST the other way last time I ran in the rain) and we get a super-... read more

Crocodiles????? And I thought dogs were a runner's worst enemy..... I think i owuld wait it the rain out as well. :-)

I think I just might be a bit addicted. I waited out the worst of the rain and headed out. The croc was only a baby, but he turned and snapped his jaws at me and it clear what he was saying so I turned tail and RAN. :) Normally rain doesn't last more than a 1/2 hour but this must be a storm from the north so it hung around most of the day. ugh. After 4 hours of no sun, we start looking for SAD lamps. :) (but honestly, I get sun-depressed after about 1/2 a day of no sun)
