Sooo..........had a phlebitis( superficial clot - not in deep tissue; NOT life threatening ) in my leg in a varicose vein that I have had for many many years - I am only 36, but genetically I'm blessed with this problem :)..anyway the Vein specialist told me last week that I shouldn't run because I could let the clot loose into the rest of my circulatory system...as a good and diligent patient, I did not run.( MIND YOU I ran 6 miles THAT same day ) TODAY I got another ultrasound, was told that things look great - the clot is starting to dissolve..etc..etc.. when I asked when I could start running again - he told me NEVER - that I shouldn't run because I have bad veins?!??!?! That I should get used to brisk walking or cycling. UGH - forget you vein man - I am RUNNING. In Fact, the only thing that has kept my body from falling apart through 6 pregnancies in under 10 years IS running - I KNOW I would be worse off today if I hadnt KEPT running...whatever................just had to vent ..funny - never met an anti running doc...

Amen to the second opinion. Perhaps a more Special specialist?

yes - I am thinking about a vein specialist along the sports medicine avenue...or AT least discuss with a sports medicine Doc - I suspect this doctor was appalled that I was running while pregnant...as many many many are, and was using whatever he could throw at me
