Getting better each time! Today was all freestyle and backstroke. Pool was crowded, though -- I kept having to wait for people to clear the lane, but that helped me need shorter breathing breaks.

Better today -- I didn't feel like I was going to die, which is, you know, nice. Mostly a mix of freestyle and backstroke, with a few lengths of breaststroke thrown in. Must work on my form and breathing.

I'm not sure if you can call 8th grade swim class and summers at the lake a *background*, Brooke! I'm finding it amusing how many things I'd forgotten. Posts on that to come in the next few weeks.

First time doing laps in 25 years. I was ready to quit after one lap! Distance is an estimate, might have been 700 meters, I lost track of my lap count while trying to remember to breathe!

I commend you on the laps. Breathing was my downfall to be a swimmer - that and the whole diving head first into water just felt wrong! I hope it felt good to move those muscles.

good job! i count my laps by using the little bouy things on the lane diveders. otherwise i'd have no clue how man laps i've done!

sitting today out :( Bruised my heel a few days ago, and I need to let it recover before my 8 miler this weekend. It used to be so hard to make myself exercise. Now, it's torture to sit here and do nothing!

you're not doing "nothing" its called a rest day and your body needs a few of those if you're ever going to make progress.
i know exactly how you feel, sucks, but is a necessary evil.

In all fairness, running is SO much harder on your body than walking. I couldn't run this mileage and shred, no way!

Thanks! LOL, I touched 5.7 for about 5 seconds. Don't think I could have sustained it a second longer! Seriously, it is HARD to walk that fast. Your body (even MY body) wants to break into a run at that speed. Still feeling high off this morning!

2 days agoummmm, I'm way more buoyant than you! I don't have to WORK to keep myself afloat, just to propel myself forward! On just the rare occasion, carry around a few extra #s can be a bonus!
