  1. alrightVibram Five Finger Run-Slow a... 3.25 mi / 00:39 12:03 pace

Wanted to take this run very slow to focus solely on form and attempt some of the Chi Running Methods. Plan on doing this for a while to really get my form down hoping to stop some of these chronic daily aches and pains. Toes were very cold though so... read more

Nice Kim - the one downside to early AM running is I miss all these glorious days with people posting about their afternoon runs in their tees and shorts. Heck, it is 29F when I am running in hats and gloves still :). Nice work. Love to follow your progress on the Chi Running - it promotes forefoot/midfoot running no?

  2. Morning Run 4.41 mi / 00:50 11:15 pace

Slow run today. I am having pain in the back of my knee and it isn't going away. Not enough to alarm me, but enough for me to pay very close attention to my stride. Reading Chi Running right now and hoping I can get some pointers through it.

Nice run Kim - yes it was amazing this AM. Hope all is well with your knee.

Will do Chris. I follow a blog of an ultra runner and she has the same back of knee problems that have caused her to have to go to physical therapy and rest so I know how serious it can be if you don't listen to your body. That is why you see so much more cross training lately. I really have to get a brace for the leg though for sleeping as I am straightening the leg so much wile sleeping it buckles up which is causing this I am almost convinced. Weird

Hope it's not serious Kim... A good friend of mine used to have serious knee issues until he took up Chi Running. Good luck!

  3. alrightCycling at the gym again 13.7 mi

Couldn't bear to run in the rain again today so got to the gym to do a cycling workout. Did interval training again which makes it less boring (but still boring). Wish it were a real bike on real earth. Good cross train workout though to strengthen ... read more

Good long bike ride, Kim. It will not only make you strong for your race, but will also give you a base for mountain biking. I'm hoping the trails will be dry by opening day (April 15).

  4. Cycling at gym 4.8 mi

Did some cycling while my son worked out at the gym. Really enjoy interval training on the machine. In fact, it's the only cardio machine at the gym that I like because I have built a training program around it. Kept it light though as I ran 8 miles... read more

Yeah, I like it, but I get in, get what I need to get done and then get out! Love exercising outdoors and don't like it much indoors. Love the weights though as I am trying to build my back and legs some more and I get much better results at the gym.

  5. alrightTrail Run 7.85 mi

8 Mile trail run in the raw cold and it was tough. On the plus side I have been able to navigate and almost entire 8 mile loop of trails within my town which is awesome! Very cold and was running in ankle deep mud at times though and slipped a couple... read more

It was a lousy day today, Kim, and you should be proud to have gotten out there and run. Manana could be worse...

  6. alright10.3 Mile Cycling 10.3 mi

Did this before I felt lousy yesterday at the gym as my legs ached from running so wanted to cross train.

Did a 10 minute warm up and then did splits that were a set of five

40 Seconds as fast as I could/20 Seconds recovery

After set of five I would... read more

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking Chuck. Just need to find a bike now. Have been checking Craig's list but nothing yet. It's hard to find a bike as I am only 5'3!!! Will be doing my 1st cycling class at the gym on Sunday as we are supposed to get downpours and wind so I doubt very much I will be trail running on Sunday! ;-)

  8. alright 1.5 mi

Just a 1.5 easy walk around downtown at work as I got my garmin in so I was walking slowly so I could fiddle with it while walking. So far, I really like it. Can't wait to try it out running tomorrow!

I think I'll break out the VFF's this week, as well. It is much more difficult to twist an ankle in them than in running shoes that have that platform, so they may be just what I need.

Nice run on a beautiful day, Kim. Your expressions of joy with minimalist running are inspiring.

Sounds like a great run! Haven't run with them myself, but a recurring issue brought up is the calf soreness. Goes away w/time as long as you slowly build up the mileage.

Nice work - maybe it is the weather. Glad the VFF's are giving you good karma.
