    alright treadmill 3 mi 00:27 09:06 pace

Just was getting started again about a month ago, then had my worst, most-lingering-est cold of the last five years. Just starting again the last few days, and woke up with a sore throat. :( Mercy.

  3. RUN
    alright Treadmill 3.11 mi 00:30 09:30 pace

Bit achy, but progressing. Walked the 10 flights to my apt after.

  4. RUN
good Rockville -- Aspen Hill 2.51 mi 00:24 09:42 pace

    Raining a little, with potential for more, so ran hill repeats right by home. 5 x 0.25m @ ~6% grade (2:11, 2:21, 2:29, 2:34, 2:23). Compare with 4 x (2:11, 2:08, 2:17, 2:55) in early June. More e... read more

I'm not sure if it's effective to go for speed on a steep hill. I time my hill reps the first couple times to check consistency, but speed rarely improves much over many weeks. However, hill strength = greater improvement at track intervals! Those were awesome splits for a hill workout! Hope you're doing well, Jose. :)

  5. RUN
alright Rock Creek Stream Park 6 mi 00:57 09:28 pace

A little different -- calves were fine, quads tight. Came across my rabbit couple from the other day -- WALKING -- which does no one any good, least of all me. They look much younger and fitter t... read more

  6. RUN
great Rock Creek Stream Park 3.12 mi 00:27 08:45 pace

Miracle of miracles, calves not tight today, and I knocked about two minutes off my current 5k pace. Cooler out than of late, probably helped. Need more days like today!

  7. RUN
good Rock Creek Stream Park 3.46 mi 00:32 09:09 pace

My thanks (I mean this sincerely) to the slow couple running off in the distance ahead, who allowed me to concentrate on reeling them in and staying in front, rather than my need to stop and stretc... read more

It's always good to have a rabbit to chase! Nice job!

So many unnamed runners I have to thank for this very service, but methinks I've been the rabbit more times than the hound... Excellent, authoritative passing in that heat!

  8. RUN
good Rockville -- Viers Mill 4.73 mi 00:43 09:10 pace

Same route, no mistakes this time. Not as much further as I expected, but a nice new option, and what a spectacular, mild, brilliant day it was. Usual suspects, calves tight, feet numb. From pas... read more

Nice run Jose! Do you have tight hamstrings? I find when my feet and calves start tightening up, it means my hammies are unhappy!

Nice miles, Jose! Sounds like a beautiful surround, too. Your perspective and expectations of your training are great.. you're smart to align your expectations with past experience rather than succumb to the impatient "I want 7 minute miles NOW" monster :)

Nice job Jose! Agree with Vera, my hammies get tight and start bugging my calves as well.
