This run felt a little like a shakeout run after the weekend. Slow at first, and my knees were achy so I kept it short. I felt really good by the end and picked up speed, so a definite success.

good Bay to Breakers 7.46 mi 01:14 09:53 pace
Ended up with some nice negative splits on this one. I was fairly conservative in the beginning, while still passing people (got stuck in the wrong corral) and got to kick it up slightly as I got c... read more

Bay to Breakers: warmup 1 mi
After waking up at 5 am to catch the super duper special early train (where I watched loud frat boys do beer bongs at 6 am and felt very old) I ended up having to jog to the start to avoid the drun... read more

good Weekend kickoff 3.2 mi 00:33 10:11 pace
I squeezed this one in in between work and meeting Austin and one of our roommates for beers at Rose and Crown. I'm getting way more used to morning runs, though, so it was different to have t... read more

blah Short and (barely) drizzly 2.2 mi 00:23 10:29 pace
I got a little distracted by an email I read right before this, so I wasn't in the best mindset. Because I got started later than I meant, I decided to keep it short so I can hopefully squeeze... read more

good Tuesday AM 2.7 mi 00:28 10:27 pace
A pretty normal run. My legs were still kind of tired from the 8 miles at the end of last week, but that's just how it goes sometimes.

great Long AM 8.3 mi 01:30 10:49 pace
I was hoping to finish this in less than an hour and a half (just because) and a block away I had 1:29:40, so I booked it and made it! Pretty satisfying. Some highlights:

Nice work! And geese are big, mean jerks even when they don't have kiddos nearby.

Thanks guys! Absolutely about geese. I still remember one biting me when I was three years old and teasing it with bread. Hopefully I can outrun them, since I plan to keep going back to the Bay.

good Nice and cool 2.7 mi 00:27 09:52 pace
Perfect weather. My arm hurt a little from a vaccine I got on Wednesday--right in the muscle--so I kept it to my normal short distance. Pleased with the pace again.

great Tuesday Evening 3.9 mi 00:38 09:37 pace

alright Arastradero preserve 5.7 mi 01:04 11:13 pace
Man, it was HOT. 9:30 absolutely was not early enough to beat the heat, but I did want sleep. And I rarely get a long run underway that early, so this one worked out thanks to my friend Mandy who r... read more

alright Attempted fartleks 2.7 mi 00:29 10:39 pace
Speedwork in the morning is hard. I tried to do the thing I did once where I do a speed surge on over/underpasses. That time it was after work and I really felt in the mood to go faster. This time,... read more

Nice for negative splits! :D I would also run this without drinking, if I was ever to participate. The one time I signed up I overslept and missed it. Took that as a sign. But the upstream moving salmon must have been pretty awesome to see! :)

Yeah, it would have felt really weird to drink. Maybe one year I will when I'm not using it as a training run for anything (like SF!). I also couldn't bring myself to bandit, like my friends were planning to do!
By the way, I am down for a June 9 run! I'll probably only run 7-8 miles with you, though :)
