I'm sad about this race. I really thought I could break 2:20 and obviously didn't. Part of it was the heat - I got dehydrated enough that I felt sick and headache-y all day. Another part was that I started out with the 2:20 pace team, and they were going WAY too fast - try 40 seconds per mile! I left them just before the 5 mile mark and went it on my own but the damage was done. Lesson learned: make my own pace instead of trusting somebody else. Also, speedwork needs to happen - I've been doing miles but no extra "quality" workouts. 2:20 in September at the Naperville Trails!!!!
