good CES spring training run 5 mi 01:07 13:24 pace

We started off the spring training season with a run with 12 degree temps and a strong wind from the north. It actually wasn't too bad, weather-wise. The sun was shinning and it was nice to get t... read more

Yeah, with less snow, you'll go faster - and I'm sure they loved the experience today anyway. Good run, pal!

good walk to pub trivia 1.7 mi 00:30 17:21 pace

Yeah, not really a workout, but we very well could have taken the bus from the red line. We cheated on our normal pub trivia spot, to try a different place in Lakeview. I still like my regular pl... read more

good moonlit lakefront run with Tim 2.77 mi 00:31 11:18 pace

It's a beautiful clear night out, with a wonderful nearly-full moon reflecting over the lake. My ankle is finally behaving, I hope it keeps up!

good CES pacer run 3 mi 00:37 12:20 pace

A short, easy run/walk at the CES pacer meeting. It was good talking to everyone and I'm looking forward to spring training. It was interesting talking to Holly and Daisy about walking pace, and ... read more

I have a real problem with my slow walk. Holly has always been good about paying attention to it. I always feel like I have this great running pace but then I dilly dally on the walk.

A peaceful run by myself along the lake. Ankle felt meh and I felt tired, but it was nice to get out there.

  6. Day 33: Fail.

So, I broke my 100 day challenge streak yesterday. Just wasn't feeling it mentally, and felt like I needed a day to relax completely than I needed a walk or a half hour of Wii Fit. ... read more

Well you did over 30 days in a row, which is pretty awesome! I tried doing a 100 day challenge last year. I'm guessing I didn't succeed because my log stopped in February. I think you are overall very good about exercising so you shouldn't let this 100 day challenge make you feel like you failed.

And for what it's worth, I have been incredibly impressed with your diligence - it's amazing that you made it over 30 days without skipping one! I'm glad Daily Mile still lets me feel connected to fellow CESers, even though I can't run with you guys right now. :)

You know I'm torn about it too. On one hand for me, it really kept me going on days when I know I wouldn't have worked out, but on the other hand I think your body needs rest sometimes and it's not always so healthy. Especially if you have an injury or are sick. Going just 30 days is impressive and you are right, you know you are very consistent with exercise which is the whole point. Congratulations on making it so far!

good run with Liz (day 32) 3.4 mi 00:41 12:04 pace

This was my first time running with my friend Liz. We ran north to Loyola and back, which was a nice change of pace. Ankle, dare I say, felt better than usual.

I think that was a good call. I was looking for your half post and when I didn't see one I was hoping you'd let your ankle rest up :) better to play it safe but I totally understand the guilt you feel. (in a silly heroic sounding voice) But fear not! You shall run a half again! And you shall be victorious!!!!

Thanks guys. I know it was the responsible thing to do, not running the 13 miles. But I think I'm feeling guilty because that conveniently corresponded with getting to sleep in on a chilly Saturday morning. :) I still think it's wise to keep my runs on the shorter side for a while.
