  5. RUN
    good NFEC marathon relay -- leg 2 6.55 mi 01:26 13:09 pace

Second leg definitely felt tougher than the first. I was about three minutes slower, partly because I did some extra walking in the second half. Still a fun time. I would have liked to have more... read more

  8. walk
    good IMOO Spectating 5 mi

Elsa's fitbit said we walked over thirteen and a half miles (!), so I'm taking credit for at least some of it. So inspirational to see all of the athletes.

  9. RUN
good bonus miles 2.75 mi 00:33 12:07 pace

A few extra miles after the race. I felt like I could have kept going for longer, which was nice. Also 4:2s.

good Pacing Mag Mile Half 13.1 mi 02:49 12:56 pace

Pacing races is always so much fun! I paced the 13 minute mile group with Tia, at a 4:2 run/walk. We didn't have much of a crowd following us as pacers as I've had in the past, but it w... read more

So, that's a lot of mis. Are you officially in "race a fall marathon" mode?

Yep, I've stayed away from doing that, but I figured for this year, what the hell. You've always been successful at not dying doing a marathon after a tri season, so I decided to finally go for it. It won't be a PR, but I want to see if my mantra of "I know I can slog out a long, slow run/walk" can carry me through.

That's exactly it. I've NEVER truly nailed a marathon in those circumstances, but I've always gotten through it (I guess Grand Rapids 2012 was the closest attempt - that's still my third fastest marathon and we mostly prepped for the olympic tri that year.) Rock the run/walk, enjoy the scenery and company, then enjoy the treat gorgefest after.

  14. RUN
    good neighborhood run/walk 4.05 mi 00:52 12:43 pace

4:2. Tried out some new shoes and went post-dinner, so it wasn't the greatest run ever. Weather was pleasant.

  15. RUN
    good evening run/walk 4.1 mi 00:52 12:40 pace

Neighborhood 5:1s. I felt like I was going a little bit faster than this, but I'll believe what Garmin says.

  16. RUN

good Chicago Tri bike 24.85 mi 01:28 16.9mph pace

This went much better than expected! I was slower than last year, but well above my goal of 15-15.5 mph. I love the stretches of the bike course that are straight and flat.

I do need to work ... read more
