good track workout 4 mi 00:40 09:54 pace

I was dreading the track and was happy I went. Same story as pretty much every Wednesday.

It was a fun workout tonight -- lots of shorter stuff. And other day of perfect running weather. Worko... read more

  2. swim
good CTC swim 1760 yd 00:44 44:00 pace

I skipped the run at stroke and stride, and just did the swim. Water was more brisk and choppy than the last few times I was out there. I think the waves are fun actually, but I definitely feel t... read more

  3. RUN
good lakefront run 4.07 mi 00:44 10:53 pace

Absolutely perfect running weather tonight! I had swim class, which was supposed to be in the lake, but got moved to the pool because of surf warnings. I didn't really feel like waiting arou... read more

  4. RUN
good neighborhood run 3.25 mi 00:36 11:03 pace

Ah! This felt much better than yesterday. Of course, I waited until a much cooler part of the day. And my iPod didn't die a half mile in, so I was able to rock the tunes. I still am not in... read more

  5. swim
good Ohio Street Beach with Brook 880 yd 00:30 60:00 pace

The lake felt perfect today! I went with Brook for her first open water swim. She did awesome! We swam to the quarter mile buoy, stopped for a break, and then swam back. Very pleasant. Time is... read more

  6. RUN
tired lakefront path run 6.05 mi 01:14 12:13 pace

Yes, definitely feeling out of shape. I found it it really tough to keep going mentally too. Did a lot of thinking about goals both for this season, and for next summer.

You'll get it back - it was tough today due to how muggy it was outside. We will still be good tri champs.

I don't want to have to get used to it. I just want it to go away :-\ Looking forward to fall running :)

Yeah, I'm the same way. I don't do well in the heat. I'm feeling a lot better about things today. I've reconciled the fact that this won't be the summer of gigantic PRs, that I am just enjoying easing back a bit, and that I haven't slacked completely.

alright Lakefront path ride 11.24 mi 00:54 12.5mph pace

    Ugh, got another flat.

  8. RUN
blah neighborhood run 2 mi 00:24 12:00 pace

Both time and distance estimated. My left foot hurt; wondering if it's the new shoes. I wore old ones yesterday and felt fine. Feeling the effects of vacation and time off from running.

  9. RUN
good CTC stride 1.8 mi 00:20 11:06 pace

Distance is estimated, because there's no way I did two miles in just 20 minutes. I think I followed the route correctly this time though! I felt pretty good throughout, but when I stopped a... read more

good CTC stroke 1760 yd 00:42 42:27 pace

This was my second time at Chicago Tri Club Stroke and Stride. Even though my time was very similar to my first time (and not as fast as I'd like), I felt much better about the swim this time... read more

alright CTC / Blue Dophins class 1800 yd 00:45 44:00 pace

As always, drills and freestyle laps. I forgot my cap, so that was annoying. I also just felt tired. I guess it's been almost two weeks since I've swam and it showed. Oh well, it felt... read more

good Vernonia to Hillsboro ride 36 mi 03:04 11.7mph pace

This was definitely the easiest of the four rides Tim and I did in Oregon. I walked my bike up and down some of the steepest parts of the trail, but mostly this ride was a short gradual uphill fol... read more

good Hillsboro to Vernonia ride 36 mi 03:17 11.0mph pace

The first twelve miles leading up to the trailhead were pretty much flat. But the heat and the sun made them more tiring than they should have been. After that we got on the Banks-Vernonia trail, w... read more

it was choppy on Sunday by the turnaround. I always get a bit freaked out when I get back the 3/4 mile sticks. It feels like you are going to get hit by a boat or something!

Yeah, I always get a little freaked out around there too. Sometimes I think a little chop can be fun, but I was stressed out because I was tired and worried about being slow. Oh well.
