Test run. The hip starts okay, but I could feel it pretty soon, so I shut it down. Doing stretches, hip strengthening, rolling the IT. Going for a massage soon. Maybe that will help.

Dude, I gotta say - hearing all your issues I suffered similarly last year a bit with same symptoms. Turned out it was my IT band. Caused me to cramp everywhere from buttocks to calf - not fun. Solved it with lotsa ice and some ART.

Sometimes it can take a year or years to figure things out injury-wise. You may want to check out Tim Noakes' Lore of Running, Christopher Bergland's The Athlete's Way, and Matt Fitzgerald's Run: The Mind-Body Method of Running by Feel for some general guidelines towards approaching running injuries. Then follow up with specific diagnosis and suggested treatment with Dr. Kevin Vincent at the UF & Shands runner's clinic. Good luck!
