First run with the Vibrams today and think it went well, was not worried about pace ,that will come. Cadence was about 185 so very happy with that and very quiet on the mill so no heel striking. A... read more

Nice. I've heard great things about Vibrams. My friend Caroline (with I train - bike only) changed from heel-strike big fat trainers to Vibrams & she is now World Gold (age group) Aquathlon Champ and World Tri (age group) Silver champ :-) Keep it up - it will pay off.

(continued)...The compression and heat help to improve blood circulation and that helps to promote the healing. Now, I hardly ever feel pain when I run. The only time I might feel pain is if I have a really intense workout where I'm pushing so hard that my stride gets sloppy. Try a heat pad!

Thx David a heatpad sounds like its a good idea and im glad it has helped your knee pain. My problems i think are more to do with heel striking and barefoot running should help take that away. Im going to start using the Vibrams tomorrow

alright Treadmill 1.5% 7 mi 01:04 09:07 pace
Ok have decided that 1.5 % seems to be a good incline on the mill so will stay with that and also want to keep AHR at 140 so pace will be slower but i dont think that matters on a treadmill. 30 mil... read more

Put the treadmill on 1% inline, not sure if it makes much odds but lots of people say its a good idea???? AHR 144

It's better for your shins, fewer injuries etc, plus, you have to work harder! Always good ;-)

Thanks Johnny. I'm not really a runner (I was until I broke my ankle) but I ride with tri-athletes, one of whom just won Gold & Silver in the Worlds Aquathlon/Triathlon in NZ so I will ask her what she thinks. I know that to break 20mins that intervals are the way to go, just as they are for the bike! Ouch but it works.

Thx Andrea sounds like you are training with some top athletes, that will bring the best out in you. Yep i agree with the interval trainning but i have a habit of injuring myself when i push too hard but i know its the way to go.
