Overdrawn!!!!!!!!!

Went to the "bank" today and found nothing left..... A familiar refrain in these recessionary times I suppose but one that hurt me this morning.

The plan was to do an LSHD (long slow hilly distance) of 18 miles. The long slow hilly piece worked out but not the distance. From very early on the legs were feeling tired and as the hills came one after another the whole body started complain.
It became obvious that yesterday's unplanned breakthrough run was coming back to bite me. By mile 14 I was struggling and desperately hammering at the door of the "energy bank" and finding very little there. At mile 16 the "Overdrawn" sign came up and I was done. Walked for about four hundred yards and then jogged home the last mile and three quarters at dead slow pace.
Lesson learned...... don't try to follow a flat out ten miler with a hilly 18miler......lI'll know better next time. Maybe.....lol

You sound like my real bank account. hahah :). I cannot run very far the day before my long run, I just struggle so much with the long run that my legs need to be fresh. So live and learn but you did awesome for fighting it out through. I know you came up short but you had a good workout the day before...so you did amazing! Smiles!!! :)

You better learn the lesson, Mister! hehe The next run will be much better. Even thought you couldn't run any longer, you still did great on your speed. At least for me you did. :o)

Nice run, - It might not have been the distance you went out for, but you should still be darn proud of the effort laid in it today.

I still think it was a great run, more so because it was preceded by a 10 mile flat out run. I would have been done after that one!

I like the acronym LSHD. Take out the hills and you're doing LSD...OK, that's lame!
