Freedom + Tempo = Breakthrough Run
Went out early this moring (6.15am) and ran through the Dawn on a beautifully cold (-3C/27F) and clear day. Had planned a tempo run but went out easy (9.16 1st mile) to warm up the muscles in the cold air.
It was such a fantastic morning that i decided to ignore the garmin and run the Tempo as quickly as the body felt comfortable with. That Freedom from clock watching paid off. Miles 2 and 3 picked up nicely with 8.46min and 8.17min respectively. Went sub 8min after that for six miles solid, splits 7.56, 7.29, 7.30, 7.24, 7.04, 7.05 and 6.55 for the last half mile.
Result.....breakthrough on a couple of levels. First time in 7min mile territory in nearly a year and new PR for a training route I've been using on and off for about four years. A Good Mornings work.
Tommorow is Long Slow Day. Lilkely to be very very slow after today's efforts. lol

Bravo on today's run! Excellent.

Whoa! Didn't you just say a little while ago I'd be too fast as a running partner? Hmmm... now the tables have turned! Awesome run John! Congrats :)

Many thanks all.... @Alex, one swallow doesn't make a summer and one good run doesn't make a running partner.... I think I need a bit of work yet to earn that place ...lol
