With another good night sleep under our belt (thank you Landry!) - Dad hit the road for 12 miles of rolling hills through Avery Ranch this morning. I like to run 10,12,14 miles on ashphalt a couple of times a month and stay off the trail to keep the legs conditioned to running and racing on hard surface.
Another cool morning, although the humidity was up from yesterday - very happy with our pace and especially our finishing miles.
Splits were: 7:25, 7:18, 7:15, 7:11, 7:25, 7:22, 7:14, 7:04, 7:15, 7:03, 6:46.
It's waffle time at the house! Have a great Sunday everyone!

yum! waffles! i'll be right over. ;) great run!

I have to do the same thing...I made the mistake of only running on the gravel when I trained for my first half marathon...my feet were killing me by mile 10 because I wasn't used to the asphalt. Great run...Avery does have some nice rollers.

C'mon guys - tons of waffles coming out of the kitchen right now with Dawn's family visiting! @Middalia - I think the asphalt runs really help me on race day. I'd much prefer the trail - but like everything else, you have to practice the "race experience" if you want to hit those goals. (I'll enjoy Tuesday's run back on the trail though!)

Nice run today, Joe! Glad to hear Landry let you sleep, and the hills weren't too mean today. :-)

@Bob - thanks, felt really strong today especially late in the run - not going to argue as I just missed a 40 mile run week with two "baby-off days" - no complaints!
@Lara - felt like a hill-crusher today, those repeats seem to be paying off - and little Landry is letting Dad get about 6 hours combined through the night ... we can work with that!
