great Long Ride - Parmer Lane 40 Miler 40 mi 02:01 19.9mph pace

Landry was a sleepy head this morning and didn't want to get up in time for breakfast at school, so I let her sleep in and we started our day an hour late or so. Too late/hot for hill repeats, so we flipped that workout to Friday and went on our long ride for the week.

40 miles - longest ride so far as we stretch things out for IM 70.3

Happy with the ride - managed just under 20 mph without my wheels and aero helmet, no drop off from the 30 miler on Saturday from a speed standpoint. Just have to keep hammering away on the pedals and continue to build that strength and endurance on the bike.

Lots of climbing on this ride - 1,407 feet and some wind to fight on the way back in. Pretty solid.

Holy Moly -- 40 miles. I've never biked so I have no frame of reference, but that sounds really long to me for a mid-week training ride. Nice work!

Nice of you to give Landry a break ... strong riding Joe in a strong return to form after that stomach bug. Glad you are feeling better. Are we gonna' see some follow-up to your air flight discussion - sounded intriguing.

Thanks guys! @Jim, I think I do need to write a piece about that flight - I've been mulling a lot of the conversation over in the day since. I think you just provided me with my next post topic on Runfordom. @Karla - Oh, I've got a ton of time - 70.3 is in October. I'd like to be riding 50 milers once a week or so by July, then in August and September get up past the 56 mile mark.

are you riding with her on the bike?? if yes - what are you using to have her sit in? (Curious cuz I've been trying to figure out what to put the Bean in when s/he is big enough to come with me for my commutes).

Hi Barb! Nah, not on the TRi Bike, 25-30 mph scares me enough :)

Landry is still being pushed on her own bike, but I think we'll be getting one of the "trailers" for her to ride in as we'll be getting a couple mountain bikes tis summer for Dawn and I to play around on.
