LSD - goal pace +:60 21 mi 02:45 07:52 pace

LSD this morning to wrap up our first 75 mile week. Goal Pace (6:52) + :60 on the schedule and we were able to come in right on target, but it was not an easy run by any stretch.

Seem to have some sinus congestion forming, definitely didn't feel very good out there and it seemed every mile was :03 slow .... Was able to hang in pretty well and run a solid final 5 miles, but 1 to 16 were a battle. Just felt flat for lack of a better term.

Rest tomorrow, then it's race week for the Austin Half next Sunday. Time to reload a bit and get our legs back.

Thanks guys, I think it's the tough ones that build the marathoner. At least that's what I'm telling myself this morning. Nothing pancakes won't cure :)

Joe way to fight through with a strong run. I think Dm might have a virus going around or it is just cold season! Everyone seems to be getting sick. Take care of yourself this week and hammer down this weekend. Have a great day.

Excellent push through a tough run joe! I was wondering what did restwise say before this run?

  • Joe M.

Thanks guys - @Gil, in another impressive prediction, Restwise said I was at 40% and needed a day off ... Which I think my cold symptoms and my increased resting heart rate coupled with less than normal sleep made the difference there. Restwise has been pretty spot on so far.

For all the discomfort you felt you were still able to perform right at even par. That should be encouraging for you. Sinus problems are common with distance training and hopefully will pass without much setback. Take the rest day and rejoice in your achievements thus far.

Solid run for the not feeling great, Joe. I'm sure some refueling and rest will do the trick.

A training cycle wouldn't be complete without one of these runs. You got it out of the way early! Feel better Joe, sounds like tomorrows rest day is well deserved and coming at the right time.

I think that's part of the point of the high-mileage weeks Joe, you definitely are not fresh for the week-capping long run (and getting sick doesn't help). Nice job pushing through, a really valuable run.
