blah Redwood Shores to Coyote Point 17.79 mi 02:38 08:52 pace

I ran farther than I ever have, past the Coyote Point Yacht Club before turning around on this out-and-back route; my gps watch read 10.25 miles at the turnaround.

My plan was to do 21 miles (by adding an extra half mile after returning to the starting point), but it was not to be. I bonked, hard, before mile 18 and had to throw in the towel - walking the rest of the way home.

Before things started to go bad, I was on track for an 8:45 minute per mile overall average pace, like last time.

In retrospect, I was underhydrated for this run, and my coughing and sneezing probably didn't help (it's been a week already!) The temperature topped 75 degrees (yeah, sunny California) and this trail has ZERO shade.

    Nice Job:

Great effort considering you are still recovering and the heat.

Take it easy. Great distance, 18 miles is no joke.

Thanks guys. I thought this was going to be a sure thing, since I had done 20 miles on this very course just a few weeks ago with no problem. It goes to show how much I have to yet to learn about going long.
