Run {Saturday 07.14.12} 14.31 mi 03:02 12:43 pace

Taper has begun! The husband & I went out to a concert (Steve Miller Band) last night so we started a little later than usual this morning (7:45 instead of 5ish). Ran with Kelly and Capn Jon from Karen's Bakery (Folsom) to Granite Bay. The husband headed off on his own at his pace from Granite Bay back and some extra all the way down to Hazel Ave. we Kelly & I met him at Starbucks. This run was another rough run for me. I hate holding back the husband/my friends. I did a lot of walking (again) and a lot of hating hills (again) but at least I finished strong with a 9:15 pace across the bridge! Is it the long training cycle? Taper madness? New shoes? The heat? My awful eating habits? The lack of cross training & stretching? It's all of it. Two more weeks till SF then a little break until it starts all over again ...
Overall: 14.31/3:02:04/12:43
Splits: 11:52, 11:31, 11:49, 11:55, 12:12, 13:10, 13:32, 12:51, 15:06, 13:34, 11:06, 14:36, 13:52, 11:53, last 0.32 = 2:55 (9:15 pace)

I'm with you! I signed up for something challenging in October. I gave myself a week of fewer miles. Now I'm starting a new cycle. I need to get back to healthy eating, stretching, and cross training, but honestly running regularly is so all consuming it's hard to find a balance. By the time I finish running it's so hot I don't want to do anything else. I think you are doing great! (I just bought Chicken Soup for the Runner's Soul and feel more motivated...maybe it's time for a treat!)
