Turned off the paved path onto an unknown forest trail today. About a quarter mile in the trail narrowed and spiderwebs started spanning the path every 10 to 20 feet. They were just garden spiders which are harmless, but still high on the ick-factor since with their legs extended some of them were nearly as big as my hand with fingers spread. I had to slow to a walk and use a long stick to clear the path in front of me -- I probably cleared 30 or 40 webs. After about a quarter mile of this, the trail ended in a neighborhood. I didn't want to backtrack through spider alley, so headed out of the neighborhood via the roads until I hit back up with the paved path I had been running. Other than the slow walk through the woods, pace for most of the run was between 7:30 and 7:45. Distancias #3.

Oh. My. Gosh!!!!! I would have turned back, don't blame you on not going back down that path. I lived in Pflugerville for 18 mos. and I know TX grows big spiders. I would have freaked out. Excellent fast run!

Melodie, this is actually in Wilmington, NC. We're here visiting my folks. The big spiders I see at home in Austin are usually tarantulas (even creepier in my opinion).

Hip's much much better. Today was actually first run in a while that it bothered me at all and it only started nagging me a little after I passed the 9 mile point. Been mainly running 8 max lately so tried to stretch it out a little today and see how it would go.
