This is getting to be nuts. Wish there was a way to hit the credit cards double for the no shows which I think was like 7,000 the year I did it. Sorry, rant over :)

I was one of the "no shows" last year due to an injury. I had every intention of going when I signed up (even bought 2 VIP bands so I was in for $300). Getting hit "double" for getting hurt would have only prevented me from signing up again. Not being allowed to defer for a year / no refund is fair enough. I consider the fees from last year a donation. I am signed up again this year and am training a lot smarter so that I can hopefully significantly reduce the chance for entry and thus another "no show."

That being said there should be a way to "release" your entry so someone else can sign up. Not saying that they should refund the fee, but let someone else enter if injured runners know they won't be there....

You didn't look comfortable when I saw you. Fabulous pace for that distance, and you owe it all to a girl.

If you don't want a girl to beat you, you better knock off a couple more minutes on your Rock the Parkway Goal! :) Great run this morning! I plan on being back next week!

  9. quick question: how many of you incorporate speed work into your marathon training every week? Have you seen a drastic improvement in your finishing time because of it?

    • Tim H.
      Tim H.

Jason--not every week, but most weeks. There are different types of speed training you can try--not only intervals, but marathon goal pace, repetition, etc. I've seen a big improvement over last year.

My 3 marathon times have gotten progressively faster with no speedwork. I think I would see more improvement if I incorporated the speedwork.

thanks everyone, I am trying to gauge if I should make more time for winter intervals. Maybe it's time to implement the 305
