great Englischer Garten Fail 6.5 mi 00:57 08:46 pace

Ok, so first of all, I was planning on going for a nice, 30 minute run through the Englischer Garten here in Munich. It is literally right in my backyard, so I thought I would take advantage of this beautiful weather. It can't be too hard to navigate the Englischer Garten, right? Wrong. So long story short, I ended up running double the amount I mean to run. I did about 0.4 miles of walking when I got to a really busy street and would have looked like an idiot running, but then I cut back into the Englischer Garten. So... yeah. This run was not one of my brightest ideas. HOWEVER, the park is the largest planned park in Europe and is absolutely gorgeous. It's so tranquil and beautiful... the sky was Bavarian blue and white, it was 70 degrees and no humidity, and I could run there every single day. Especially because there are NO hills!!! If only this weather would hold out!! Also, I was really, REALLY surprised that I was able to run continuously with the exception of that one break for almost an hour. I guess I lose fitness slower than I thought, but then again, I have been walking about 4 or 5 miles every day. Note to self: One point in the park is 4.5 km from my building. That's the perfect short run distance!
