great Bay Breeze 10k 6.28 mi 00:50 07:52 pace

I was nervous before this race. I hadn't been able to run much this week and the weather has been awful. I decided that I wouldn't worry about PR'ing and I would just see how I felt - after all, I have a 10-miler scheduled for tomorrow so I didn't want to push it. The first mile and a half were downright MISERABLE. It was pouring rain and we're talking big heavy freezing drops - to the point where it actually hurt my skin. I'm pretty sure my eyes were basically closed for that entire time, it's a good thing I didn't run into anyone...
After that it cleared up and I started to get some energy. I'd been passed by a few girls in mile 2 and was able to make up the ground in mile 3. This route was an out and back and after the turn around I started feeling REALLY good. I was passing a bunch of people - including a few dudes (I always picture them crying after I run by them). I hadn't looked at my Garmin the entire way but I checked with a little more than a half mile to go and was STUNNED to see I was only at 44 minutes. Crossed the finish line at 49:30 - a PR by 2:00 - 3rd in my AG, 9th female, & 35th overall. Splits went like this: 8:00/ 8:14/ 7:57/ 7:56/ 7:42/ 7:41/ 7:17 (pace). Pretttty pumped.

Congrats on the PR and on placing in your age group! That's awesome!

it was *really* cold out there, I didn't even stay around to see the official times from the half, but I'm sure I'm in no danger of placing in my age group. :-)

Most excellent! I know it was pouring rain this morning and I can't imagine running a 10k race in that kind of weather. And when you pass by the dudes.. I think the term is 'chicked' :) I'm running a 8k in Palo Alto on March 12.. interested?

Dude! Nicely done! You really shouldn't have worried. Lack of running the week before a race probably has a positive impact. Congratulations :D
