      Carol R. took me a minute. There is a group (about 100) that meets at a restaurant called Tin Roof II in Cool Springs, TN on Monday evenings. Everyone runs or walks what they want...2 - 6 miles then comes back for food and sometimes an adult beverage. I forgot about the cats we sometimes see on the route...;-D

    Am having a difficult time getting my swim lungs....I can swim like a champ with a scuba device but lose all focus without it.

      I've been considering a snorkel for swimming laps because I'm not good at the rhythmic freestyle stroke breathing. Is this the same as your scuba device? Can you recommend any or do you think it be better for me to really try to get the breathing down? I wanted to get the exercise going without having to deal with the breath part.

      HI Felis W....I am using a Fins swim snorkel. (Several are available on line.) The breathing tube curves over your head rather than straight up like a dive snorkel. It has helped me immensely with my stroke but I can see where you could become attached to it. I just contacted a coach about working with me on my breathing today. Will let you know how that ooes.

      Hi Carol, how is your swimming breath training going? I got a Finis snorkel and used it twice so far. First time was awful, but second time was great, after I got more used to it. I'm swimming a bit slower than I'd like, but every time I put out a harder effort, I reflexively try to get more air through my nose:( (noseclips aren't working, either). But it's a good workout and I'm looking forward to the next one!

      Hey Felis....I am trying very hard not to rely on the snorkel. I can swim fast and hard with it but that is because I can breathe. You can use the snorkel in small Tri's but only in a pool. Gosh knows where you would end up if you used it in open water. ;-D I have one more tri coming up the end of this month and would love to have improved my swim time.
      I am going to take a few lessons focusing ONLY on breathing and see if it helps. I could do that alone but know I will do better if someone pushes me an
