    great progress indeed... 2000 m 00:48 38:37 pace

    good kick's useless 1500 m 00:45 48:16 pace

my neighbour, matt came to watch me this mornig and to offer some tips. he said that my kick was brutal and that as a result, i angle down into the water too much. he checked it out by having me ki... read more

you're right on the money dyer. your kick only accounts for about 5% of your propulsion in the water so you need to make that an effecient 5%. a lot of what that angling down comes from is incorrect form - try some form drills and that should help - and stop kicking like a runner! oh, and get some flippers - like it or not they will take your swimming to the next level.

Also try using a pull buoy and don't move your feet. This will help you develop upper body strength and decrease your reliance on your legs.
