It really was a tale of two races. The first half was great ... couldn't have gone any better. The second half ... well, it was all about survival. So while I didn't finish as I had hoped, I'm still keeping my 3:45 goal for Chicago. Marathon #10 on 10/10/10 ... watch out.

I'm watchin'! Way to survive. It was a tough go, no doubt. A LOT of us are going to be out for revenge come 10/10/10.

I like the way you're framing this, Mark ... revenge. Makes me feel like Mr. Burns plotting against the citizens of Springfield. The Chicago Marathon will be "exxxxxceeelllllent."

Absolutely, 100%, TOTALLY enjoyed our miles together, my friend. Those were some of the most vivid moments of the entire race for me. Although ugly, and not what we planned, those miles helped to "re-center" me for a strong (for ME, considering!) finish. Thanks again.

Glad to be of help to at least one of us :) Seriously though, way to finish strong. With such a hard day overall, I think it's important. I look at miles 25-26 and think that I ran them at 9:30ish (when the previous miles had gone so poorly), and I take that as a small victory.
