good I Get So Emotional Baby! 24 km 02:43 10:55 pace

What a crazy run-so fun of mixed emotions ranging from elation to possibly hitchhiking for the very first time. First off-Yay me! I finished this run despite it being damn hard! The windchill was barely tolerable and the bloody snow which worsened by the time I got into the open countryside. There is nothing but farms and nothing to sheild me from the arctic blast. I had a hard time running through town. The snow was more like sand so I ventured out in the country thinking the roads would be better-not much at all in fact. On my way back the roads turned really icy and I regretted being out there. I just wanted to get home but I could not call for a ride because it would have put my family in danger to drive to get me. I considered hitchiking or stopping at a strangers home for some relief. Frankly I was embarassed to be out there at times because I know I was making the drivers nervous even though I was dressed like a Solid Gold dancer and very visible-they were still not happy with me being out on the road. All I could think about was the bottle of Barolo on the counter for tonights supper and how badly I wanted to make it home in one piece! After having no point of reference I realized I had nearly climbed to the top of my nemises hill. WOW! I had a surge of adrenaline and came down the hill on the other side feeling renewed as I approached closer to home. I started to enjoy the run and even though the left side of my body was covered in a chunk of ice I started to get a bounce in my step. I even considered running further. Everything felt great. Then it was a big letdown back in town-with the new snow accumulation the roads were even worse than before and I really started to get sore. Needless to say-I was happy to be home and happy to have completed the run. The Barolo never looked so tempting but patience grasshopper :)

That is the thing about a long run - there can be so many different emotions that span over that kind of distance and time spent out on the roads. Awesome job pushing through a really tough day out there and enjoy the very well deserved bottle of Barolo.

Unbelievable Becky! Glad you got through that--and now you'll always have a great story to tell. A bottle of Barolo is a nice carrot to get you to the finish line. I'll have to try that!

Way to push on though. Crazy to be on country roads with the wind and snow today, way to show the roads what you're made of. I've used the promise of a great meal at the end of a run as inspiration to push on though.
