Ok I am finally getting this posted, I am sorry I have not had a lot of time to post this and I am sure I missed some awesome racing and workout from my friends but right after this race my wife and oldest daughter went on holiday to PEI Canada and I have had my hands full with the youngest. So lets get to it, I will explain the alright face first although this time is only 30sec slower then my best time it should have bee 2min faster. Why? The swim that is why. I had a terrible swim probably the most nu-nerved I have been in a tri swim ever, first this has always been a out of he water swim so I lined up right on the edge even with everyone else in the water thinking that when he told everyone to get out of the water I would be golden. Well just before the start he said it would be starting just as everyone is, now I have to get to the front and I dont want to be that guy pushing my way up so I did the best I could and the horn went. I have never been so pummeled in a race, I should have noticed that I had two big guys on either side of me and they spent the entire time to the first buoy beating the heck out of me and each other! I was going in to full panic at this point swimming all heads up trying to see some way out of this why still moving forward. Just as my panic got started to get the best of me I got a little break got my self together and found a little freedom after the first turn. The swim back in was not as bad but I had to spend a lot of mental energy calming my self down. So out of the swim I was really glad to be done and really mad at what had happened. Got to my bike and got on, just as I was about to get to the mount line a good friend Beth says "Jason you have your wetsuit on!" yes that is right I was so freaked out after the swim I got my top of the suit down but never took the whole thing off!! So I stopped right there and took it off and left it got on the bike and went. I will spare you the details of the bike and run they went as expected. I did get a little tired on the run but it is a hill course and I did work hard on the bike. I should be very happy with this being 30sec slower then my PR but I just can not get that swim out of my head, one day I will get it right one day!

wow Jason Im gripped reading this . Props for finishing and 30sec slower than your PR is INCREDIBLE in my book . So glad you got through that swim too - sheeeeesh ......

There's always another day ;-) My wife noted your alright face and we had the discussion as to why you can't always have the happy face on. Great race today!

Whoot! Whoot! Congratulations on the PR Jason! Was debating wether to put in the Whoot! Whoot! But went with it 'cause I believe you deserve it big time! Sorry that your swim went the way it did. I think I understand what you might be going through. Should have done this and not that. Why didn't I move ahead? etc. Normal to go through it in your head. Nothing you can do about it now but learn from it. Can't help but snicker at the thought of you getting on your bike in th e wetsuit. Sorry! lol :+)))

I hear ya on nerve-racking swims! I'm glad to see you were able to chill out a bit after that first turn. Good race man, and an even better story!

Jason, sounds like you overcame a lot to post an impressive finish. I'm sure you can take away something from this experience. Nice job.

Wow, always "fun" when the swim becomes water wrestling

I'm sorry to hear about the swim, I know you've been working towards the perfect race. I'm glad someone told you about the wetsuit before you tried to ride away and had to turn around...

Dealing with that situation in the swim and still going forward to bike and run is inspirational... that swim is my biggest fear for my first tri in August. UGH... Really proud of how you did and Karma will get those two arsholes.

Despite your li'l issue with the swim, you totally rocked!!!

Thanks Guys I wonder how long it would have taken me on my own to figure out that I had that wet suit on :-)

Great job Jason! Sounds like a very hectic start to the race. Wow! Everything happens for a reason so they say...preparing you for what's ahead I guess. Who knows...anyway...great job as always and you inspire me sooooo much! Thanks for that!

Just doing the swim with that many people around me would have unnerved me! 30 seconds difference is so small of a segment of time with all things considered. Dude, you still rocked it in my books!

Great job!! It can be tough to keep your act together in a running race. I can't imagine keeping perfectly focused during a Tri.

Nice job, Jason! I'm sorry that the swim went the way that it did. It happens. But you kept your head up and kept on truckin'. I hate when the mental attitude starts nagging with negative thoughts. Good work, thanks for sharing.

nice work Jason, bummer about the swim. Panicking out in the water is one of my biggest fears, way to keep it together...

good luck with your sons fish, you won't be the first parent i know who kills them and then tries to replace them without telling the child if that happens. LOL

Wow, I've never done a Tri, but your description was very clear as to how they can be. Great job getting through the mental and physical battle Jason!

A very good post Jason. I have only done a couple of tri's but the swimming for me is un nerving. Glad the rest of it went well

Nicely done. J. The swim sounds so disorientating and the fact that you were only 30 secs off your PR EVEN with this swim says a lot about your performance elsewhere. You should take comfort that you got through it and were able to carry on.

That sounds both frightening and frustrating. No sign of Adrienne over here yet ... I'll be sure to say "hi" if I see her!
