great Old Sugarlands Trail Loop 8.47 mi 01:49 12:55 pace

More trail running. This time the difficulty went up by a lot! I went up 1,000 feet in the first three miles, and then it was mostly downhill from there thankfully. This is the route that was suggested at the visitor center yesterday, and it worked out great. Old Sugarlands is a horse-approved trail so it is larger in some places (the first couple miles were gravelled). Still trails though, so I had to slow down and stop for pictures of course and also slow down to make sure of my footing multiple times, made for slow going. Not a lot of wildlife, and not another soul on the trail to see. Was a lot of fun getting out into the trail. Lots of streams with a few crossings, got my feet wet. Good temperature and canopy though. Ran the last bit back towards Gatlinburg on the Gatlinburg trail where I could get a good speed for the end.

Ha, I was going to say, where do you climb 1000 feet in Minnesota? :p Glad to see you're getting some good trail runs in out of state.
