Went out with Miguel for a bit this morning. He on his new Cervelo S2, me on my Trek. Had a near miss on the Martin Goodman Trail with a pedestrian who decided to abruptly turn left and cross the trail right in front of me. Luckily, I wasn't going fast and was ready to brake...but it was too close.

The route was nice - long stretches without needing to stop for lights and pretty smooth roads. There's one section on the Spit that's in rough shape, but other than that it's pretty good for riding and there are no cars or trucks to worry about.

The hills on the way back were a nice little test, and proof that I have some work to do in that area. Maybe some repeats will help (just like running).

All in all, a great first "real" ride. I'm looking forward to getting up to 50km and beyond in the next few weeks and months.

    Nice pace and route!!!! Martin Goodman down by the beach is pretty scary sometimes....lot's of kids, dogs, pedestrians, roller bladers etc going every which way. Kinda like playing frogger at like 30km/h.

    I'll probably avoid Martin Goodman from now on. We weren't doing anything close to 30km/h...thank goodness. I had a feeling these two were going to do something stupid.
