  1. Officially signed up for the Ottawa Marathon.

  2. goodCCRR Marathon Feb 7. LSD 13.03 km / 01:16 09:21 pace

A tad on the cold side on the front half which was into the wind and decidedly uphill. Once we made the turn south down Avenue Road, it was actually quite nice out. I feel like we're slowly easing into the training, but 16k next week and the week after... read more

  3. 13k on the agenda for tomorrow with Team Ottawa at the Running Room. Looks like it's going to be a cold run, but today's little 5k was a good dry-run in terms of what to wear.

  4. goodThe 5k Loop (with hills) 5 km / 00:26 08:14 pace

Dean Karnazes calls these "opportunistic runs" - I had some time between when I got up and when Ginny wanted to head to Variety Village to run, so I slipped in a 5k. It was stinkin' cold.

  5. good 6 km / 00:31 08:11 pace

Nice steady run on the treadmill. I wasn't expecting to go out tonight but when Ginny came home earlier than expected, I figured I might as well take advantage of the opportunity and sneak in the scheduled run for today.

  6. good 10 km / 00:50 08:00 pace

That would be a 10k tempo run. Felt great, except for an eternal few minutes between 11 minutes and 20 minutes; it was like time slowed down or something. Maintaining sub-5:00 min/kms through 10k was a nice confidence booster.

  7. Checking out my training schedule for the Ottawa Marathon. I initially thought I'd have to do a 28k run in Cologne, Germany where I'll be on business in March. But, it turns out were following a slightly offset schedule that means it's a step back week... read more

  8. goodCCRR Marathon Jan. 31 LSD 10 km / 00:52 08:20 pace

Speedy 10k this morning with the marathon clinic. It was more like 12k since we did a 1k jog back and forth from the starting point--the 10k portion was a bit of a time trial to assign pace groups.

It felt good to get back outside after some time off,... read more

  9. great 5 km / 00:27 08:34 pace

Woohoo! I'm back. That whole thing worked out quite well. Seven days off just as planned and the 5k continuous run tonight was solid. My calves are complaining loudly about this, but nothing that some stretching and a cool bath won't fix up. 10k on Sun... read more

do you sit a lot? or for prolonged period of time? if so get up every so often and stretch your calfs. This will keep them loose though out the day.

  10. Day four of not running. I regret not going out on Thursday morning when I had the chance. Oh well. On the bright side, I should be healed up and ready to go again (albeit slowly) sometime late this week.

In the meantime, I'll live vicariously through... read more
