Back at it, baby. Just a touch of tightness, but no pain in the ankle. We'll see how it feels tomorrow, but I'm hopeful that I can roll into some summer training and get the Midsummer... read more

Nice run. Did you know midsummer is being run on the island. Not sure how I feel about that. Oh we'll, already registered.

I knew that. No other options for a 30km this summer and I want to support that race too.

Does this mean that you, Jess & I can start virtually training for a half together now?

Yes. But it's two halfs. On the same day. Back-to-back.

Cranked up the pace on the walk tonight to get the heart rate up a bit. Still not running, but oh so tempting to break into a trot. But I resisted the temptation. The shin and calf is almost better... read more

True that. I think I'm getting a taste of what speed skating does to the quads.

A little cool off walk on the treadmill. I resisted the urge to crank it up and and run.

The thing is a killer machine. Like hiking up a steep hill, and it never quits. I've never been one for hill training, so while I'm taking some time off from running, I'm going to sweat up a storm on this beast.

Jacked up hill training. Did 15 minutes, random hills, level 10 (of 25). Felt the burn, total sweat fest.

I'll be doing more of this over the next couple of weeks instead of running.

  9. I've decided to take a full three week hiatus from running to rid myself of the last lingering effects of shin splints. Oh, and buying some new shoes too with a touch more stability.
