great Variety Village Treadmill 6.03 km 00:31 08:20 pace

Another good Saturday morning. The lacing trick worked nicely! No more annoying shoe tongue falling to the side!

I spent part of the run texting with my virtual running buddy in BC. Enjoyed a litt... read more

Pretty meh. Never really got into this one. Thursday night runs are my least favourite thanks to the general feeling of tiredness from three straight days of running.

Tiredness is the exact reason I didn't plan a run for tonight. I don't think my legs would be happy if I went 3 days in a row!

Stanton adds periodization into the program. Days of stress, and then days of rest. The key is to not do more than two days of hard workout in a row. So Tuesday and Wednesday are tempo-tempo or tempo-hills, but Thursday is always at an easier pace. Running on tired legs is a good thing to practice.

alright Variety Village Treadmill 10.03 km 00:50 07:58 pace

Wednesday 10km. I think hills start next week? Who knows.

Tonight was decent except for a side stitch that kept on giving. Evening tempo runs are not my favourite thing ever.

great Variety Village Treadmill 6.05 km 00:28 07:23 pace

Honestly I didn't really feel like running tonight, but as usual, once I cranked up the treadmill and got going, the time passed quickly and the run was really enjoyable.

Nicer weather this week so outside we went. Ran with Jeffrey N. on a 17km out and back. Thanks to the City for clearing the Martin Goodman Trail. Bare pavement most of the way!

I really enjoy these Saturday runs. Easy pace and after a rest day makes for a good run every week. Looking forward to 16km outside tomorrow.

  8. RUN
good Variety Village Treadmill 8.04 km 00:43 08:40 pace

Easy 8km for a Thursday. A bit of a mental battle through the middle, but once I got to 6km I found the groove and finished it up.

  9. RUN
good Variety Village Treadmill 10.04 km 00:54 08:42 pace

Another day. another 10km. A touch slower than last night, but still up in the tempo range. Felt a bit tired compared to yesterday, but Wednesdays are always like that.

Tempo Tuesday fun times. A bit slower than last week, but still in the speed zone. Good run.

Tempo Tuesdays are back. Cranked it up and ran solidly in the tempo heart rate zone (and a bit beyond...whoops!). Felt good right through the end. No more shin pain either!

  17. I hit the track at Monarch Park Stadium today and wrote up a quick review of this great addition to Toronto's running scene.

It actually looks like it'll be nice in E-Town compared to the freezing forecast you guys have here. Might try to run outside...most difficult part would be figuring out a route from where my aunt lives...

hmmmmmm, going by memory I'd describe it as pretty flat. But it may be more of a false flat. I'll try and run it next weekend to refresh my memory!

If the route will be to just stay on Plains over to York, it is flat. Maybe a bit downhill even. I don't think you can go Spring Garden and turn right (not left) as it doesn't connect to Plains.

I mapped out what staying on Plains would be and it's about the same distance. I think it's flat too. Should make for some faster times this year.
