This must be the longest I've ever run outdoors, in all my life. Pathetic, I know, but I'm coming from a 200 metre max background.

This run exposed all kinds of underutilised muscles. My left knee ached initially and now my right ankle is. Tomorrow I'll probably feel like I've lost my back.

Figured I should attempt the Sunfeast 10k as a starting point towards a full marathon next year.

Getting started is always the hardest, moderate increases every week - like 10% more will get you in 10K shape in 3-4 months.

Start run - walk - run and try doing a 5K the next time you are outdoors.

Hey, thanks guys. I was at a comfortable pace when I finished the lap and could have gone further. I just didn't realise it was under 1km. I've managed 1.5 km on a treadmill at 9 kph before giving up out of sheer boredom. I had promised myself a video screen in front of the treadmill to watch video podcasts, but didn't get around to it. Maybe I should. :-)

Joined Runner's High this morning for the Sunfeast 10k training. They want us to run at least four days a week under monitored conditions.
