It wasn't as fast as my original goal. But, I chose this race, that I knew would be challenging, over a faster race in Chicago, and I am happy with the results. I also have some people that I can try to beat the next time I run a race. My first 7 miles were great. I averaged 7:19 pace for those 7 miles going up and down a LOT of rolling hills with the emphasis on the going up. Somehow I think they managed to make the course go up the uphills, without always having corresponding downhills....The last 3 miles were on trails and my body did not like the trails. It did not like it one little bit. I struggled through those three, but finished with a respectable time and a 3rd place age group award (7th overall female). And, I finished, motivated to keep getting faster. So, I guess I am going to have to find a race or two to run in the next 6 months.
