Quick summary: The start was cold, there was lots of wind, the head wind at mile 9.5 till the finish SUCKED, I finished and didn't die.
This was definetly an interesting way to start off the racing season.
It was great running with Tiffany through the entire race. We were keeping the pace relaxed and just enjoying the run. It was cold at the beginning but I warmed up, was glad we decided to run with our jackets because the head wind was brutal. Just after mile 9.5 we hit a wind tunnel that lasted till the end of the race. It seriously was hard to run and felt like I was barely shuffling. Tiffany and I knew we weren't going to be breaking any PR's so we just decided to try and make the most of it and took some pictures. At one point her hat flew off and my eyes were watering so bad I had tears coming down my face. It was difficutly to control my breathing since I couldn't take a deep breath. Definetly a lot more walking than we ever do during a half. Not sure that I've ever been so happy to finish a race. But I was glad I finished with Tiffany, she grabbed my hand we crossed the mats together :)
I did get 4th in my age group but there weren't many people that ran it this year and the wind affected everyone. Last year I ran it in 1:56 and that got me 7th place in my AG so you can tell from that how different this race was compared to last year.
It was my slowest half but I'm pretty happy overall, still hate the wind though but figure as long as there's no crazy wind for Robie Creek in 2 weeks i'll be happy. I imagine my time for Robie will be slower than today's half and that's ok too I just want to survive :)
