thanks folks!
brad - the Mines of Spain are a nature recreation area in Dubuque, Iowa. Pretty extensive acreage with a wide variety of trail systems that range from flat, grassy prairie to steep, rocky and technical. Great training grounds. trail conditions right now are pretty icy so my friend that runs there a lot and myself have stayed on the roads.
Bill - sweet man, keep me updated. it's going to be awesome
Morgan - thank you kindly dear :) keep up the awesome running, you're going to kill boston7 days ago • Like

Nice job on the combo running & hiking workout, Joshua! So do you think the 110s are decent for pavement/road running? I would like to get a shoe that I could use for trail running, but also could be used for some road running too.

my recommendation between those two would probably be determined by what sort of trail/road ratio you think you'll hit. while the 110's felt great on the road, i would certainly choose the trail glove for a shoe on any significant amount of road miles. if you're going to do a majority of trail miles with them, the 110 would probably be your ticket

i certainly understand transitioning in gradually. also, you can get the 110's for super cheap at running warehouse. i used runblogger's discount code RUNBLOG10 and between that and their free 2 day shipping, dropped $63 total which is insane imo

Wow, really nice run Joshua! That must have been a hard out leg getting pounded by the headwind. Is it a little bit warmer out there right now for you to be running sockless? I've never tried that in winter in Michigan, but it seems like my feet would freeze! Have a good day.

temps have been all over lately. last night was 30, felt like 17 w/ 21mph winds. the temps weren't what worry me being sockless, it's more an issue of rubbing & blistering. i'm weird cause i ran for a couple years in vibrams w/o injinjis and never had a single issue but for some reason, i usually get at least one hot spot when i'm sockless in most shoes even ones designed w/ an inner sock liner as are most the shoes i wear are. and truthfully? feet felt way warmer than i normally would w/ socks :)

Awesome! So glad to read your post! funny thing is, I had a gel with me but just didn't feel like taking it, knew I didn't actually need it to finish the run and by 8-9 miles in, taking it would've been pointless :)
