  1. RUN
great Burroughs Creek Trail - Lawrence 4.6 mi

It was awesome, because it was snowing and I got to wear my Yaktrax!

  2. RUN
blah Little Mulberry Park, Dacula GA 6.2 mi

Blah. I just didn't have the energy this morning. Maybe 5 hours isn't enough sleep? It was pretty hilly, too.

  3. RUN
great Fort Yargo State Park 7 mi

It was a perfect fall day and this park and the trails are beautiful! I ran around the lake.

  4. RUN
    great Cook's trail 6 mi

Perfect weather and I love this trail in the fall. Lovely!

  5. RUN
great Boulder Creek trail 5 mi

What an awesome trail that goes right through the city from behind my hotel. There were even long stretches of dirt trails and even single-track.

  6. RUN

I often think "tough" and "fun" go hand in hand! Sounds like we are in complete agreement on that. :) Are you planning another trail race soon? Regardless, I'm so happy for you -- what a great day!

  8. RUN
alright Riverfront in Lawrence 8.75 mi

I did the loop on my favorite trail. I got a late start, so it was pretty hot and humid for the first half. But then it got cloudy, so the temps were better, but it was still humid! Ugh. I slogged ... read more

Thanks Melissa. As long as I finish, I'll be happy - undertrained as I am. It will be awesome if I don't come in dead last!

    alright Cook's Trail 5.07 mi

It would have been perfect if I hadn't fallen twice. TWICE! I'm still shaking my head in disbelief. This is a flat, easy trail and I've run it before, so I was more surprised than an... read more

I have my leg up on the coffee table and am icing it right now as I kick back and watch Ricky Gervais, uh...The Golden Globes. Maybe a beer will help my knee heal.

I'm sorry about your stumbles, Heide! I hope you're feeling better today. Great job persevering out there. I'm glad you got to watch Ricky as a bit of comedic salve. :) Keep us posted on how you're doing, please.

I ran with my beagle dog, so it was great! He did a lot of sniffing, though, so it was more of a walk-run-sniff.

  12. RUN

Chilly and wind from all directions, but it was good to get out there after New Year's Eve!

Thank you for understanding, Heide. I love your name's pronunciation! Again, it's too bad we didn't get to know each other while you were in Columbus. I know you studied German, but are you also a linguist? I know you're an awesome grammarian!

Yeah, that would have been fun to have had a running buddy while I was in Columbus. Oh well. Technically, my focus is literature, but we all teaching German as a foreign language, so to a certain degree we are linguists.

How snowy was it? I almost headed down there today but I was worried I'd be fighting snow the whole time.

Liz - Good idea! I should attach a little keg to his collar.

Mike - There were just about 2-3" on the sides of the bike path, where the make-shift trails are (maybe a little more or less in spots). There was some ice on some of the bridges. I started near Olentangy Park, off of West Wilson Bridge Road. I live in Dublin, so that's the closest trail head for me. I was thinking of taking my Yaktrax (thank Liz!), but I knew I'd be on pavement some of the time.
