  1. FIT
    00:25

Low weight, high rep workout. Was ok, stretching afterwards felt great. However, realized how tight my skin is where the incision scar is located. Need to get some scar lotion on that sucker.

  2. walk
    good New Gym! 1 mi

Warm up for 'da weights. Took it slow, eventually this will lead to some real running but time to work on some muscle strength.

  3. swim
great Horseheads High School Pool 1000 yd 00:22 38:59 pace

I really needed this swim. Totally zoned out for the first 500yds. Second 500 were harder but felt great. Coming back from this surgery/loss of fitness is going to be really hard. Luckily I'm up to... read more

I like that - will remember it. Yeah, getting your conditioning back is a long road - just look for and appreciate those small victories along the way and soon you'll be there. As Ulysses discovered, it's all about the journey.

Great workout today, Heather!!! Keep it up - you'll be back on track before you know it. (And, uh, your pace for 1000y STILL beats my "sprints" I did when I was in that triathlon swim class!)

great Horseheads High School Pool 750 yd 00:16 37:51 pace

Not going to lie, this one was tough. I'm recovering from a really nasty head cold from last week. Still, felt great to be IN the water and swimming.

  5. swim
    great 00:10:00

No idea on the distance. This was all about just getting back in the water. Felt great! 10 minutes may not seem like a lot but this is me keeping a promise to my doctor and, more importantly, to my... read more

  6. walk
great Stillwater Drive Loop 1.45 mi 00:26 17:53 pace

Two loops around in a gorgeous day, in the mid to high 50's! Wasn't sure how it was going to go. No pain or stiffness, took it slow. Felt great.

  7. walk
great Stillwater Drive Loop 0.75 mi 00:22 29:53 pace

Had the girls with me this time. Great walk, chilly, but nice to be outside. No pain, even without medication. Feeling pretty good about this.

  8. walk
good Stillwater Drive Loop 0.73 mi 00:16 21:55 pace

First walk after surgery. Went well no pain except some minor pain on my right side. Beautiful day to be outside though!

  9. Surgery yesterday went well. Be a month before I can do much of anything. Can start light walking next week.

Best of luck with the surgery and recovery, Heather. Don't rush back into things. Just a little patience and everything will fall into place. Glad to see you back!

Hi Heather! I'm sorry that you have had such a setback with the herniated disks. You'll get there, though. I know how frustrating it is to be sidelined, and to have to take baby steps. I hope the surgery goes well tomorrow.
