  1. RUN
    great 13.79 km 01:52 13:04 pace

I think weather like this - 0 degrees with clear skies - might be my favourite to run in. Cool enough that you don't have to worry too much about excess sweat/dehydration, but warm enough that you ... read more

  2. RUN
    good 10.08 km 01:34 15:01 pace

I guess we could call this one a 'kitchen sink' run - original plan was for an LSD, but then inadvertently threw in some hills by running through the Thomas/Winston Churchill area, and then decided... read more

  3. RUN
    alright 7.74 km 01:09 14:14 pace

Took me around 6 of those kilometres to find my groove. After that it felt like it went well, but overall this was a total git'r done run.

  4. RUN
good Around the block 2.99 km 00:24 12:44 pace

Wanted to try out my new running jacket, and it felt like I should start the new year off with a run.

Yay races! I definitely stick to my goals a lot better when there's a race on the horizon, so I'll be doing a bunch for sure this year.

    Resolution Run 5 km 00:40 12:53 pace

    One last run for 2011!

Went great. Weather was nice and mild (with some occasional drizzle), and I was faster and only needed one walk break in the middle (I'd been anticipating a few more breaks ... read more

  6. RUN
    blah 6 km 00:58 15:33 pace

Felt like punishment. DESERVED to be punishment, because I've not been out running in nearly a month, relying instead on the twin excuses of work and school.

If it's any consolation, dana and all his november nano-running is making us BOTH look bad... November is always a light training month ...

Really feeling my fitness level starting to drain away from me. Not good. Need to find a routine that works better with my current schedule.

Well done getting out there. Can you do anything during your lunch hour? That's how I get 2-3 runs in a week.

Not reliably, sadly. What I'm thinking is I'll start doing some calisthenics and yoga on nights during the week when I don't have class, and then a long run on the weekend. It's not a perfect system, but I think it's what's manageable for now.

    good 6 km

Had an amazing run. Haven't been out in a fortnight, due to real-life stuff I won't bother going into, and it felt great to get out there.

  9. RUN
    good 4 km

Was actually a pair of (approximately) 2k runs, with a toddler-mandated playground break in the middle.

  10. RUN
    good 5.23 km

An odd little duck of a route.

  11. RUN
    3.7 km

Was kind of crunched for time yesterday, so this was a run to the mall to stop at the grocery store and pick up bus tickets, a loop around the lake, and then back, all while pushing a jogging strol... read more

I thought fartleks were fairly laid back, as speed work goes. You just sprint occasionally when you feel like like sprinting.

Well, they're fairly laid back if you're a marathon runner :oP
I find I still sometimes need to take walking breaks mid-run, so the idea of not taking any of those breaks and just varying between lsd pace and sprinting was daunting.

If I was objectively asked "Is 7.5km a long run" I would probably say yes. In this case I had been hoping to run 12-13 km so 7.5 qualifies as not long :oP

Red, I'll have to take out the hat for a few more runs to test that theory - I definitely was faster today than I was expecting :o)
Nicole, it was the Winston Churchill RR! It's around a 10 minute bike ride away from me - it's a shame it's taken me this long to get around to making it out on a Wednesday night!
