alright Cleveland Marathon 26.2 mi 04:51 11:07 pace

One hell of an experience in many different ways. The first half absolutely rocked. I was running easy and with my pace group through the half-marathon split off. 1:53:52, 8:41min/mile, feeling phenomenal. After that was a six mile stretch of brutal heat and zero shade that zapped me completely by the time we turned into a park, and by mile 19 I fell off the pace and more-or-less walked the last seven miles. Wasn't happy about walking, but it was either that or running until I collapsed and being taken off the course by EMTs as I saw happening to so many others. Hope everyone's alright. Just a brutally hot and sunny day on the lake. A lot of struggling runners. If the weather had been more cooperative, I think I would have been solid with my planned pacing. We'll find out another day. I finished my first marathon! http://connect.garmin.com/activity/180286498

Sounds like your first marathon was a doozie, Tim! Just think, anything after this will seem easy! Every marathon teaches us something, and you skipped high school and went right to college! You are stronger and smarter from this race, and you'll take that with you as you tackle your next one. After you rest! Congratulations, Tim!

    Great Performance:

Tim, you did great. Curtis and I saw you just after mile 15 with the pace group. You looked so strong and relaxed despite the weather. Anything after 19 mi is tough and you had even tougher conditions to deal with. I hope you are feeling good today.
