blah Stretch class, then half hear...
Wasn't into cardio, didn't even get my heart rate up high enough. Was really out of it...think it was the sinus meds I took this morning. Oh well, I guess it's better than doing nothing. I also lea... read more

Ugh, legs sore. After mostly doing the treadmill, I guess my legs are learning the difference between it and real ground.
-
It's wonderful out. Had a great walk!

Upside of working out in grey leggins, super comfy, even though I don't have a leggins body. Downside, looks like I wet my pants when I work up a sweat.

walk
alright 1.36 mi
Kinda sore but managed to pull my butt out of bed. Did level 1 calorie burner on treadmill & weights after. Think I should have done level 2.
-
walk
good 1.36 mi
Warm up walk to gym, 20 min hill intervals on treadmill, sets of weights (upper body), cool down walk home, stretches & sit ups. I felt great today. So glad I got my but out of bed. Spent about... read more

blah Cardio DVD 00:20
Felt blah because I'm so uncoordinated that the workout wasn't effective. I didn't even work up a sweat and was just frustrated that my body parts don't work together (can't dance either). I though... read more

check out "Yoga for real guys" it's a DVD series that has a good intro to Yoga and descriptions on how to do some of the forms in "guy" terms. It will definitely get your heart rate up. Tip: For almost all the exercises flex/tighten your abs during the exercise.

great 1.35 mi 00:32 23:21 pace
Did a preprogrammed treadmill this morning (about 20 minutes, forgot to check distance), intervals had me winded but I think I got a better workout than my normal manual. I walked to gym as my warm... read more

blah 1.16 mi 00:20 17:15 pace
Blah. Got up late, was determined to get something in...Don't feel pumped like I did with previous workouts. A lot of personal stuff going on, so maybe that's a contributing factor? IDK. Still glad... read more

I pounded 341 miles of pavement today, in my car. Seriously, I fell off the wagon hardcore. Starting over tomorrow. Le sigh.

I almost picked up a donut at work but didn't because that little donut graphic flashed in my head, and I thought how much effort it would take to burn those calories.

walk
alright 1.7 mi 00:22 12:54 pace
Whew. Tired. I wasn't feeling that energized when I left but was determined to do something. I think I'm gonna order a Nike+ tonight. I've been using a fee app and I don't think it's right. I know ... read more

heh, yeah probably not 456 calories. Probably more like 200ish. Nice job on pace though. Calorie counters are never right so don't sweat it too much.

blah 1.36 mi 00:22 15:51 pace
Alright, felt more tired than I thought I would. Maybe I was hooped up on endorphins my last go round. Also, there was someone at the gym room when I got there. She was kick ass running and I felt ... read more

Don't feel bad, we all have to start somewhere. when I was 18 years old, I weighed 300+. Not sue exactly how much because the heaviest I weighed myself was 315, and kept gaining weight for about another year before I did anything about it. I'm 32 years old now and I'm training for my first Ironman triathlon, that happens to be the toughest in North America, and 2nd toughest in the world! 1 Step at a time, 1 mile at a time, 1 pound at a time, because we only have 1 life.

Thanks for the encouragement, Guadalupe (cool name, BTW). I've been overweight my entire life...mostly I've just felt like nothing else was possible. But I'm giving this my all, hopefully I'll have the kind of success you've had. I'd love to do a triathlon one day. Good luck with your training!!!

I'm a very overweight walking beginner but would like to purchase good running shoes for added support and comfort. Any recommendations?
-
I recently broke away from my Nike brand loyalty and bought a pair of Brooks Ravenna running shoes and I love them. They are super light and have the perfect support for my slight over-pronation. Their site (www.BrooksRunning.com) has a "Shoe Advisor" that should help you pick the right shoe. Good luck!

Thanks, Jim! I'm going to a local shop later in the week. They have a really good reputation for proper fittings. I'm actually excited.
