Definitely feeling like I ran a marathon 9 days ago, achy in the usual vulnerable spots, cut this one just a hair short and took it easy. Even the massive foam rolling last night didn't help much. Hephaestus warm-up, Nike (the goddess, not the shoe company) flexibility cool-down. Finished with Atlas core routine.
Nice to be back out in the predawn though, haven't done a lot of that lately. And hopefully earned the birthday cake we'll have tonight, celebrating our youngest son's 5th birthday.
Addendum - did Achilles lower leg routine before lunch

You are recovering well, keep it up man.

How long do you typically break for after a big race like that Greg? Enjoy the cake and happy birthday BTW! My son is 5 this weekend and we've already eaten the "trial" rocket cake my wife made for it!

The 2nd week after a marathon I think is tougher then the 1st sometimes. Have a couple of slices of cake. Wish your son a very happy birthday for me.

Please dont take this the wrong way but I feel better reading you are still a bit achy 9 days out from your race... I am pretty sore but it comforts me to know this is all "normal." I think regardless of how many miles today, you are well deserving of more than your share of cake. Happy Birthday to your baby! :-)

Nice run. Enjoy the cake, it's a great age.

You're youngest is more than a year older than my oldest. Puts it in perspective! Anyway, look at it this way: the fact that you're feeling the marathon means you gave it everything you had. That's a great thing. Now keep on doing the easy runs in anticipation of training for your sub-2:50 :)

Nice to know that how I felt today was normal. I could even tell during my warm-up that it was going to be dicey. Smart to take it easy and call it when you were done. Happy 5th Birthday to your son!!

Not surprised you are still feeling it a bit Greg. Last year you only had 2:55 soreness .... 2:52 soreness is an entirely different level :)
