Athena X 2 plus AIS

Another new routine tonight while watching OSU-Indiana, this one's called Athena and it's a leg circuit with a hint of plyometrics, preparing for more of that type of work to come. Not too difficult, did 2 sets in 30 minutes then added full lower body active isolated stretching sequence.
Feeling rested and eager to start running again, but even more eager to keep adding this strength work over the next several months. Even going to schedule it more formally then I usually do.

"full lower body active isolated stretching sequence."

Sounds pretty serious, Greg! Nice job giving your running legs a break while staying strong & fit.

Sounds like a great plan, Greg! I was just thinking about how much time I would take off of running after CR. I need to head into IM training in January rested and injury free. I was thinking of focusing on cycling and strengthening. This post of yours gives me great direction. Thanks!

Now your talking the local goddess of my town. Considering the hills here in Athens, An Athena workout needs to be can't walk up steps afterwards difficult! Good to see you adding all this strength training, Greg. Really focus on it between training cycles and you'll feel a difference during the cycle.

@Mike, I'll only consider it successful if you start calling me "comrade". After all, this routine did include Russian hamstrings.

Well you know you are going to get nothing but encouragement from me for adding more strength work. I had to slack off a lot at the end of the training cycle but I am ready to get back at it with a renewed appreciation for how much I think it helped me. Interested to follow you through this.

NIce Greg - we do a fair amount of plyometrics at Yopilado and it certainly "hurts" a bit the next day - our bodies are so used to going in one direction - hope youre having fun whilst getting stronger.

Nice job getting in all of these strength routines. I used to hate strength training myself but have really tuned around on it and now I really enjoy it.
