Nice report Greg. I am amazed that you remembered my comment. I knew Vaughn would be a good place to provide support as it was late in the race. I did some research on Joe as well and also found out that he is quite the triathlete. Besides, he is 10 years younger then you as well. I can tell you that it was fun to be able to cheer you on in so many places. One advantage of knowing the area really well. Congrats on the great performance and I would take a 2:52 any day.

Amazing report, Greg! I'm always impressed when someone can account a race like this, when I finished Cleveland last year all I could really remember was "wow, that was a long time to run." Hopefully I'll remember Columbus better!

Loved the recap and the photos! You did great. PS..Does anyone really count the number of runners they pass out loud? lol... Enjoy your break and your beer! Both are well deserved. Cheers.

Greg...great race report. I'm amazed that you are able to mentally slow down and record the race as you're blistering by at the pace that you ran....

Thanks for sharing the report, Greg. You ran a very smart race - chasing Joe would have spelled disaster - after executing a great training regimen and have a nifty BIG PR as a result.

What a great write-up of a really great race. Sounds like you ran a perfect race, just with equally perfect competition. Congratulations.

That was a very inspiring read. I particularly like the way you describe not getting sucked into a dual with a faster runner and staying focused on your own race. Now enjoy that beer!

This was great reading, Greg. Thanks for posting. I read it just before my run this afternoon and kept thinking to myself, "Greg ran faster than this for 26.2!" Great motivation.

Excellent recap! I have followed your recovery from last Spring and was pleased to see you bring it all together. Where many would have hung up their hopes of ever getting it back YOU refocused and set new goals and met them. Your determination and "relaxed" racing style will no doubt motivate many runners in the days to come. Great to see you in action!

Was Mr 3:00 the younger kid wearing a red Chardon shirt? He ended up losing a ton of time by mile 19. He was in 2nd when I first saw you and the guy in the compression socks had to be Vince as I know he runs in them.

Thank you so much everyone - @David, yes, you have them both right. After tearing out at a 2:50 pace, Mr. 3:00 finished in a 3:04. Couldn't have been a fun second half.

Wow! Another amazing performance, Greg! Congrats on your placing and the PR! I thought about you after I crossed the line in Chicago: "I bet Greg is crossing about now too. It looks like all I needed to finish a race at the same time with him is an hour time-zone difference." ;)

Wanted some downtime before I read though this. Great recap as always. You definitely have a way of drawing people in with your writing style. I end up feeling like I am in the midst of the race. I think lesson #3 about staying relaxed, patient & positive in both training and the race to achieve consistency is my favorite.
Hope the recovery time helps to rejuvenate and reinvigorate. Hell of a job well done. Now please have a beer.

Very nice, Greg. Inspirational for my NYC race coming up. If you have a second and have thoughts on the question I posed here: http://www.dailymile.com/people/mholmes/entries/18512801 I'd be curious to hear what you think.
