Ode to Fifteen

Fifteen miles times ten, it seems,
Is enough to make you run it in your dreams.
I missed a long run and interval work too,
But to you, fifteen, I always remained true.
Each time I see fifteen, it taunts
And the time I ran 14.5 still haunts.
While most runs get me up early aplenty,
You, fifteen, make me rise at 3:20.
Glycogen efficiency was one of our goals,
And we'd celebrate at Starbucks with cinnamon rolls.
But for now, fifteen, I bid you adieu,
I’ll call you a "long run" in a month or two.

Awwwww shucks, I almost teared up :). Nice final? fifteen Greg!

LOL you're good! Did you make this up while running? Always impressive to see 15 on a weekday!

Love it. Nice mid-night miles. Because, let's be honest, anything 3:xx is still nighttime, not morning.

Well, I hope the run was as good as the poem. Great job on both.

While your predawn miles are a big inspiration, I'll be glad to see the legs get a little vacation.

Poor Will Shakespeare, he spent his whole life trying to figure out how to work "glycogen efficiency" into a sonnet, and not only did he fail but he never put in a decent 15 miler. You've managed to do both -- the Bard of Ohio.

I tried this to the tune of "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" but it didn't work. Then I tried it to "Call Me, Maybe" and that didn't work either. Finally I went with "Evenflow" and got closer.
Your training is looking great in spite of the rough path you have had this year, thinking Towpath is going to rock for you. Well done!

That mid-week long run Greg is something else - to knock off 10 of them is pretty damn impressive. Great cycle. Congrats on knocking it out of the park. Race day is it's own situation in and of itself .... all we can do is prepare for it and hope we catch all the right breaks. You've put yourself in perfect position. Kudos to you and your dedication Greg.

Thanks all - actually, I was up ahead of the alarm at 3:06 today. Figured I might as well head out. My wife had to be in early so that pushed everything forward for me too.

That is classice. Only us Pfitz nuts could truely understand. Tomorrow when I set out for my 14 mile mlr I will be a bit sad and might add 1 more for the 15 MLR. Great running and writing Greg

Nice - 15 will always be long for me. Super strong and deserving of a cinnamon roll - or two. BTW - I was flying to Chicago on a small State plane early in the morning 11 years ago ... obviously I didn't fly home.
