Moved the intervals from the track to the hill today, 5x600 up the huge hill in Twinsburg that I used to train on weekly a few years ago, with a jogging recovery back down the hill. Didn't really have a target for time or pace, or even look at my watch for that matter, as it turned out the hill was exactly 600m long. Splits were pretty consistent considering that, ranging from 2:30 to 2:40 (#2 was the 2:30 and I was near puke threshold at the end of that one).
Now I get to sit in a car for much of the day on a day trip to Newark and back to let my legs get good and tight. The hamstring was feeling much better this morning, even after the workout, so we'll see what a bit of atrophy does to it today.

Awesome running as always Greg!! Hope the legs don't feel too awful. That is the worst ~ long car ride after a long run - ugh!

Very strong repeats! Sounds a lot more fun that driving to Newark, even the "puke threshold" one (at least the discomfort ends a lot faster).

Great hill repeats Greg with some really strong splits!

Prolonged wIndshield time is never good for the legs. You'll just have to make an extra gas stop or two and shake them out. Bring the running shoes!

Wow, great set of hills today Greg! I need to try one of these hill repeat workouts some day. Hope you can spool up some nice running podcasts for your car ride, and stop to stretch them out every now and then.

Nice work mixing it up! A little bit of hill work always seems to help me out a lot when it comes time to race--I got a set lined up for next week, hope it goes as well as yours did.

Great work, Greg. I re-read part of your book last night and recognize this workout from your last cycle. To be honest, I was skimming for the couple of times that your tempo work didn't go well since I had an awful one last night :)

Impressive hill repeats! "Puke threshold" is quite an appropriate term :) Glad the hamstring is feeling better - hope all the driving doesn't tighten things back up too much.

Great hill repeat, which hill in Twinsburg.

On your hill repeats do you run 70% or more like 80-90% up them?
9 months ago • Like
Thanks all - @Elizabeth, it's Glenwood west of 91. @Nathan, it's a measured effort, maybe 80%, had enough left to manage 1 more repeat at the end.

I hate sitting all day after a hard run (which is most days I run -- the woes of a sedentary office job). Hope your hamstring doesn't protest too much...

I was thinking "I will ask Greg how hard he is going on these hill repeats" then I got to puke threshold :-)
