good Steady State Half-Marathon 13.1 mi 01:33 07:06 pace

Since there actually isn't a half marathon this weekend (it was rescheduled this year), just decided to run a steady state, MP+10% one today. Yesterday's anticipation run and leg work, with a nightcap of aggressive foam rolling, AIS, and myrtl left me feeling limber and eager for today - in fact, I think I set a 2-minute PR on getting dressed and doing the standard warm-up.
However, the left hamstring is bugging me again, it was threatening to cramp during Saturday's long run and I knocked things more out of whack during a misstep up onto a curve during Monday's fifteen. Time to see Leo again, I guess.

Well very nice and steady half marathon. I have one coming up in a couple of weeks that you are welcome to run for me. ;-) Sorry about the hamstring. I agree with Jim probably overdue for a good tune up.

Nice work this morning, Greg. Sorry to hear about the hamstring. I hope Leo can fix you right up! I have noticed with my hamstrings that they get irritated a lot more quickly than they used to. Nightly stretching in front of the TV does help and I can easily tell when I skip it.

Overtraining? Just asking. Seems like you've been training pretty smart, but that combination of enjoying running again plus the resurfacing of the hamstring, makes me wonder. At any rate, solid run especially after that sprint-dressing workout.

    Nice half Greg; good pace!

I know that sometimes runners have issues with quads overpowering hamstrings in which case strengthening of the hamstrings and stretching out your quads should help balance out things.

Also stretching out your glutes and hips can really help as tightness in this region can often force the body to rely on other muscles i.e. hamstrings.

More hill running will set you right. Moderate to hard effort up, jog down. It's work, but it strengthens the hamstrings plenty.
